The article concerns the search undertaken by parents serving a prison sentence related to the reconstruction of the meaning of life. According to the research, this may be possible through the realisation of values. In prison conditions, where it is difficult to achieve emotional stability and experience a sense of loneliness, some light is shed by the concept of logotherapy and the development of volitional cognitive abilities. It therefore pertains to self-education to build the meaning of life, where we need to find meaning in everyday life and acquire the ability to shape our own way of being.
